The Endless Mountains Writing Project (EMWP) promotes better writing in our area's schools. (We are now expanding into the IU Seneca Highlands area.)
Every summer EMWP holds a summer institute that equips teachers to be better writers and educators. At the summer institutes, teachers learn content area writing strategies, enhance their own writing and develop presentations that they present at teacher in-service trainings and conferences. EMWP also promotes writing in our region through an annual writing contest, Voices of the Twin Tiers and other writing events. See the link below for the current Summer 2011 Professional Development Flier.
Come join the Endless Mountain Writing Project and Mansfield University for the most exciting four week, six graduate credit course around! You'll be invigorated by the knowledge and contacts you'll gain over the term.
Why should I be an EMWP Fellow? -You'll build higher order thinking in your content area. -You'll reap the benefits of a national program in your own backyard. -You'll kick your teaching up a notch. -You'll gain access to high-quality professional resources and experienced teachers. -You'll experience renewed professional purpose. -You'll enjoy continuity and classroom support after the institute. -You'll have possible scholarships and stipends available to you.
Extended deadline:February 28, 2011

Book studies are a great way to collaborate with fellow
educators on cutting edge topics. The EMWP Book Study Series focuses
on a variety of topics in reading and writing. For the 2011 Spring Book
Study Series we are bringing you two titles:
--Krashen & Crawford's--ELL Learners in American Classrooms: 101 Questions, 101 Answers. "It's no secret that immigrants are transforming American classrooms. Or that increasing numbers of our students are ELLs,...a trend that poses unique challenges and opportunities for schools. How should educators respond?"
--William Strong's--Write for Insight. "Prompted by the "near-total neglect for writing" in content areas outside of English, Bill Strong explores and answers the question: "Why does writing matter?""
Please join us for one or both of our titles in this
2011 Spring Book Study Tour. The registration deadline is 1/30/11 and
discussions begin 2/15/11. For registration information, please email
Dr. Nanci Werner-Burke at nwernerb@mansfield.edu.
**There
is no charge for teachers employed by an Endless Mountains Writing
Project (EMWP) Partner School: Athens, Northern Tioga, Southern Tioga,
Towanda or Wellsboro School Districts! Non-member schools are required
to pay a $75.00 fee.**
